Bert's Big Adventure Announced as Beneficiary for 2017 Atlanta Santa Speedo Run
Atlanta Residents Invited to Gather on December 9 for Run to Benefit Local Nonprofit
ATLANTA - ’Tis the season to give back! The Atlanta Santa Speedo Run announced Bert’s Big Adventure® has been chosen as the beneficiary and partner for its 9th annual “wear a little, give a lot” run. On Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m. , hundreds of runners will come together in Midtown at Hudson Grille to run a mile in their Speedos and holiday-inspired swimwear.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to celebrate, enjoy a drink, and kick-off a wild swimsuit winter fun run benefiting Bert’s Big Adventure. Bert’s Big Adventure is a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all- expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.
This year, the run aims to raise $100,000 for the local nonprofit.
“Our goal is to offer hope when there is little and to ease the burden caused by chronic and terminal illnesses in children. The funds raised by the participants of the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run will make a huge impact on these families and will help create memories with the child that will last the family a lifetime,” said Bert Weiss, founder of Bert’s Big Adventure and host of Q100's The Bert Show.
Registration for the run is $25 and participants are asked to raise a minimum of $250 to participate. Various prizes will be awarded to multiple categories such as Top Fundraiser, Super Santas and Best Couple Costume.
“We are excited to partner with Bert’s Big Adventure,” said Atlanta Santa Speedo Run Board Chair, Michael Weaver. “Their commitment to children and families in the Atlanta area is important to us, and we look forward to making a difference in the lives of these deserving families.”
