About this Queen:
Born in Georgia and raised in Hampton, Virginia, Khalilah grew up as a bonafide Southern girl—fresh-water fishing and debutante balls. With aspirations of being a broadcast journalist, she attended The University of Virginia, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in English. After graduation, though, she chose The Studio Theater Acting Conservatory in Washington, D.C. over her acceptance to NYU’s Graduate School of Journalism and hasn’t looked back.
After a year on the east coast theater circuit, Khalilah drove across country to Los Angeles. Just two months in, she booked her first play, Don B. Welch’s “The Bachelorette Party,” which was extended for what turned out to be a two-year run and a National Tour after Will Smith joined the production team. Since then, Khalilah has worked consistently as an actress, receiving a number of awards and acknowledgments. These include winning the American Black Film Festival’s International Monologue Competition, winning the Best Supporting Actress SOFIE (Short-Film Award,) for her performance in the critically acclaimed “Jonestown,” winning ABC Entertainment Groups Digital Casting Competition, and winning Best Female Newcomer for her work in the hit web-series “Sexless”.
Some of her most notable roles include appearances on CBS’s newest hit show, “S.W.A.T.,” as well as “Rosewood,” “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” a recurring role on BET’s “Being Mary Jane,” a starring role on Black and Sexy TV’s “Sexless” and a recurring role in the hit spin-off “Chef Julian.” Next on the horizon, Khalilah can be seen on Sundance Channel’s upcoming show, “The Noise,” and the suspense thriller “A Violent Man,” alongside her fellow UVA alum and NFL star running back, Thomas Q. Jones. The film is slated for release in 2018.
Khalilah is grateful for the continued support and encouragement of friends and family throughout her career thus far and for each opportunity she’s been given to pursue her passion. Her greatest hope is to continue to be fearless and authentic in her storytelling and to have the privilege of entertaining for many years to come.
