Fall 2019 Self Care
Fall is the perfect time of year to slow down a bit, relax and practice some much-needed self-care. After a busy summer of swimming, sunning and savoring the warm weather, take time this autumn to chill out and de-stress both your body and your mind. Follow these four tips to treat yourself right this season.
Take a Hike
Witnessing summer turning into fall is a natural marvel, and one of the best ways to take in Mother Nature is to hit the trails before winter comes. Pick a trail and let yourself be enchanted by the changing colors, the cool breezes and the scents of the season.
Spending time walking among the trees on a hike brings many benefits to both your body and mind. It’s one of the greatest ways to get exercise, working your whole body, building stronger bones and muscles, improving heart health and boosting your sense of balance. Whether you are tackling a serious incline or just strolling down a path in the park, hiking will do your body good.
Hiking is also an effective way to unwind and improve your mental health after a busy summer. Enjoying the great outdoors can reduce the risk of depression, calm anxiety and reduce stress.
Exfoliate Weekly
Exposure to the summer sun can take a toll on your skin, and fall’s cooler temperatures can make it more likely to flake. If your skin is becoming dehydrated, lackluster and dull, make a habit of exfoliating twice a week this fall. Look for a scrub with sugar or another natural exfoliant to remove dead skin cells and unveil a healthier, brighter complexion.
Moisturize Daily
To prevent your skin from drying out this season, slather on a thick moisturizer after each bath or shower. If your feet are suffering after wearing sandals all summer, heal painful cracks by applying a thick emollient on them before putting on your socks and heading to bed. To boost moisture even more, consider swapping your bar soap for a gentle cleanser with moisturizing properties.
Don’t Forget Your Lips
Your skin isn’t the only thing that drys and suffers as summer turns to fall. The dry, cooler air can wreak havoc on your lips. Reach for an eos lip balm to pamper your pout. Made with all-natural ingredients, these balms are packed with hydrating, smoothing goodies like shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil and more. Although they taste delicious, it’s not because of artificial sweeteners or ingredients. The sweet, yummy flavors come from the up to 40 natural extracts in every eos lip balm, so don’t be afraid to lick!
Enjoy Healthy Comfort Foods
Harvest season means a cornucopia of fresh fruits vegetables are ripe for picking, and there’s something about the cooler air that makes many of us want to hibernate with our favorite comfort foods. Enjoy both by making healthier versions of your favorite comfort foods. Indulge in some spaghetti squash instead of pasta, snack on apples picked straight from the tree or pumpkin seeds toasted in the oven, and serve up roasted Brussel sprouts for a tasty seasonal side dish.
