Haunting Exploration of Trauma and Enduring Love Available as an Audiobook Just in Time for Summer

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Just in time for road trips and sultry summer afternoons, Christina Holbrook’s multiple award-winning book, All the Flowers of the Mountain, is available as an immersive audiobook experience, brought to life by award-winning producer Walker Vreeland and Emmy-winning voice actor Theresa Bakken.

“This is a story the reader will be able to lose themselves in,” Holbrook said. “I believe it conjures that bittersweet feeling of nostalgia, for all of us who have experienced a first love remembered for a lifetime.”

Set primarily amidst the mountains and farmlands, small country towns and elegant summer homes of rural New England, All the Flowers of the Mountain opens in the present in a Paris art gallery where Dr. Michael Pearce is forced to confront his past when he views a sculpture by the artist Katherine Morgan.

The vivid bronze artwork evokes memories of a summer many years ago, when Michael and Katherine — Kit — first met as teenagers. He, a small-town boy who skied, played guitar and was destined to run his father’s hardware store; she, the restless, troubled daughter of a wealthy New York family.

Listening and reading audiences are then transported back to the late 1970s, during a pivotal summer for Michael and Kit. Michael’s ambitions are ignited by this young woman, as he finds himself falling deeply in love. But Kit is hiding a secret from her past, and this leads to a deadly showdown by summer’s end — and choices that will break Michael’s heart.

All the Flowers of the Mountain weaves themes of trauma, class conflict and the enduring power of love into a profoundly stirring, coming-of-age story of two

unforgettable characters and a mystery that haunts them throughout their lives.

A Midwest Book Review critic said: “An eloquently crafted, original, and compelling novel by an author with a distinctive and narrative driven storytelling style, All the Flowers of the Mountain will be especially appreciated by readers with an interest in deftly written coming of age stories. One of those novels that will linger in the mind and memory of the reader long after the book has been finished and set back upon the shelf, All the Flowers of the Mountain is unreservedly recommended for community library general fiction collections. It should be noted for personal reading lists that All the Flowers of the Mountain is also readily available in a paperback edition … and in a digital book format.”
