Nevada  named among the top 10 states most likely to suffer from sleep disorders       •  New York residents are the most likely to have a sleep disorder, according to a new study.     •  Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, and California residents round out the top five states.     •  New data reveals that insomnia is the most common sleep disorder in many states, including Nevada.       New  data has revealed the states most likely to suffer from sleep disorders.          The  study, conducted by sleep experts Eachnight,  analyzed online search data for keywords, including ‘insomnia’ and ‘narcolepsy’,  per 100,000 people to determine the top ten states with residents  who suffer from sleep disorders the most.         New  York takes  the crown, with 570 average monthly searches  for various sleep disorders per 100,000 people. Insomnia is the most searched-for condition in the Empire State; the condition that makes it difficult to fall and stay asleep gained 28,600 searches throughout 2023.           Maryland takes  the silver medal with 565 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Maryland’s  most common disorder is sleep  apnea, behind insomnia, a condition that prohibits people from breathing adequately during sleep. The state has searched for this sleep disorder 8,425 times in 2023.          Virginia,  with 563 average monthly searches per 100,000 people, is the third state most likely to suffer from sleep disorders. Restless leg syndrome is a disorder that urges people to move their legs while sleeping and is the most common condition  in Viginia after insomnia and sleep apnea, with 7,225 searches in 2023 altogether.         Massachusetts comes  in fourth place with 558 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Narcolepsy, a condition that causes people to involuntarily fall asleep at various times of the day and night, is the fourth most common sleep disorder behind insomnia, sleep apnea, and  restless leg syndrome in the state. The  Bay State has been searching for this sleep disorder 5,517 times throughout 2023.          In  fifth place is California,  with 556 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Sleep  paralysis, a disorder that immobilizes a person while falling asleep or waking up, is the most common condition in the Golden State, behind sleep apnea and insomnia. The state has searched for this condition  34,950 times altogether in 2023 so far.           Georgia comes  in sixth place with 545 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Nevada follows  this with  539 average monthly searches per 100,000 people, Texas with 535  average monthly searches per 100,000 people, and North  Carolina  with 535 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. New  Jersey  is the tenth state the most likely to suffer from sleep disorders, with 530 average monthly searches per 100,000 people.
