Winelikes adds video capability just in time for summer wine journeys
Users can use the video feature to record their wine country trips and more; businesses will find it a useful tool for promotion and increasing engagement.
LOS ANGELES —Users of Winelikes, the social media app for wine lovers, can now go beyond photographs when posting about their favorite bottles and wine-related adventures. Beginning this week, users of the free app can now post 30-second videos too.
Winelikes may be the prime online destination for lovers of all things vino, but it’s also a way to find new places to visit, get ideas for food pairings (and save wines that perfectly matched a meal) and learn about one of the world’s most ancient beverages. With this in mind, Founder Jeff Gillis encourages people to consider posting more than just videos of their favorite bottles.
“We hope people will take videos of themselves having fun at local restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms, bars or anywhere else they travel to enjoy wine,” Gillis said. “Show you and your friends enjoying an afternoon on a sunny patio, or capture the setting so others can learn about why they might like to visit too. Video is so powerful for showing details of what made your wine experience so enjoyable.”
Video can capture interesting shots of food cooking or being served at a full table of guests alongside a glass of wine. A 30-second video of a winemaking or tasting room associate sharing an interesting tidbit of information can be a great way to further the education of the maker and others on the site.
Winelikes is a perfect place for business owners to connect with wine-loving consumers without much work or investment. “Use our new video feature to make an engaging 30-second commercial for your business,” encouraged Gillis. A series of videos is the perfect way to announce new dishes (and wine pairings) at a restaurant, new vintage releases at a winery or anything else that’s new at a business.
Sommeliers, Masters of Wine, bartenders and other influencers can use the video feature to show off their skills and knowledge, announce educational seminars they’re hosting or just show off an incredible new wine they’ve discovered.
Winelikes, which launched in April, is continuing to add new features regularly. Coming soon: the ability to post text against a colorful background in lieu of a picture (perfect for asking questions), fun new color schemes and ways to make it even easier for community members to post about favorite wines, people and destinations.
To download Winelikes for free, visit the Apple Store or Android Play Store. Wineries, restaurants, bars and others interested in advertising information or other partnerships are encouraged to contact Gillis at winelikes@winelikes.com.
